A Weaver's Challenge: Hilarious Results

So…the good news is I knit a hat. And to be honest, I didn’t expect that I would follow through with this so quickly. The better news it the outcome was way more amusing than I could have hoped for. It seems I have the basics down, that is, I am capable of knitting a hat, just not a hat for an actual person. Observe:

Something tells me I should stick to weaving. But here, this is better:

I’m quite proud of myself, and while I still find knitting utterly frustrating, I’m going to try knitting a people sized hat sometime soon. Check out all of my live tweets  after the jump.

A personal challenge: http://tr.im/Ihdz First revelation: this hat is going to be too small. This is what I get for improv knitting.

Why does the purl stitch take me so much longer than the knit stitch? I am seriously way too uncoordinated for this craft. But I go on!

I have no idea what I did, but it was wrong.

Oh hi dropped stitch, I didn’t even see you there…going to ignore you now (this is why I’m not a knitter!)

I doubt this hat will even fit a baby.

Finished step one of the hat, which was easy (stockinette stitch), now for decreasing. Errrr…break time!

This hat is officially ridiculously small, but technically, it’s going well. Decreasing was a lot easier than I thought.

Finished my hat challenge; took a lot less time than I thought it would…when you see the pictures you’ll see why.

Happy knitting, all you knitters out there. Don’t worry, I won’t be taking over your craft any time soon.
