Art Market 2010

mica's art market
The time is upon us! This week is MICA’s fourth annual Art Market and you know I’m going to be there selling all manner of handwoven goods. This is only my second year as a vendor but I had a blast last year working the fiber table and talking to the super wonderful Baltimore crowd that came out to shop. Here’s a sneak peek at what I’ll be selling, with lots more to choose from starting this Wednesday!

November News

I hope everyone is enjoying Fall, and that everyone had an awesome Halloween. I always have a great Halloween, because it is my birthday, and this year it was pretty amazing. If you’ve been looking at my work over the past few months, you’ve probably noticed a Circus theme emerging, and that’s because my senior studio thesis in Fiber is a reaction to research on the history of the American Circus. My extremely thoughtful friends and boyfriend are so supportive of my work, and as a result of this weekend (a party involving delicious baked goods by yours truly) I now have some beautiful books added to my collection.

Other new books on my shelf (Recommended Reading):
Little Nemo in Slumberland, by Winsor McCay (what a beautiful gift from my dearest friends!)
The Circus Age, by Janet M. Davis
Extraordinary Exhibitions, by Ricky Jay
The Circus Book, by Dominique Jando and Noel Daniel

Art Market
November is basically Art Market month for me, crunch time for getting that inventory settled for what I will be selling at MICA’s 4th annual holiday art and craft sale. Of course there will be woven lovelies, bigger, better, and more variety, but I will also be selling handmade baskets. Here is a sneak peek!

Last but not least, if you are in the Baltimore area next weekend, I will be performing with MICA’s Thespian Club in The Laramie Project. The performances will take place November 12th and 13th in MICA’s BBox Theatre in the Gateway Building. Tickets will be $3 for MICA students, $5 for everyone else. Shows start at 8pm.
